America the Great?

Where beauty is found in pavements, farmlands
the Great Lakes, the sparkling Pacific and the Empire State Building
Where separate but equal was abolished,
yet racism segregates all
Where people can marry horses
yet can't marry someone of the same sex
The Land of Opportunity-
yet millions are homeless and hungry.
The Land  of Equal Opportunity-
yet men still get higher wage than woman.
Where education is valued,
yet some students can't afford college.
Where color and race determines who is mass incarcerated,
Where Suburbs have a better chance of sending a student off to college
Where the government would rather spend money on defense
America the Great?

  1. This is very deep and full of true thoughts. The fact that you let the lies of the government be known. Yes I agree, that America is the land of confusion contradictory.

  2. I like the contradicting ideas that the US goes against even though they allow other certain things to happen, which I feel like is wrong too.

  3. I like your addressing of the many ignored issues people tend to pave over with the ideas of "freedom" and "opportunity". I also like how you mention two of the more forgotten issues: the cost of education and the difference in suburban vs urban education.

  4. I really love this. I like how you pointed out things that America claims they do and gave examples of them doing the complete opposite. I agree with every argument you made. It makes me question if America really is great.
